Silver Creek Update  Home

As of June 20th 2009, Silver Creek is carrying more water than we have ever seen for June! Unusual wet weather, slow run-off and the shutting down of pivot irrigation has bumped the water levels up significantly. The “Creek” is in great shape. The levels will drop again however when the weather gets dryer and the irrigation systems are turned back on. However June is usually a “low water” month and then the levels come back up in July. But this season we may see good water levels through the entire Summer. This would help significantly with keeping higher water temperatures in late Summer at a lower level. On another note, we have deployed more water temperature sensors this season. This gives us more coverage throughout the watershed. There are a roughly 16 sensors including the Nature Conservancy’s. The burned area around the Nature Conservancy is looking good with most of the hills covered in new plant growth. All in all, Silver Creek is in good shape this year!
